About Aiya. Yoga

About Page - Isabel Selfie

My name is Isabel, I’ve been practicing yoga for the past 5 years. I started because I wanted to have something to do in between my very laid back University schedule, but of course, I fell in love with yoga and who I became at the end of my 3-year degree.

I decided to start Aiya.Yoga to share my passion with other yogis, to teach others more about this wonderful discipline and be taught new things. I want to help anyone who wants to begin a transformative yoga journey and discover their true self, find inner peace and claim their strength.

I love all styles of yoga, however, my personal favorites include Yin, Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. I like going slow and really getting deep into the postures. It increases flexibility and puts me into a meditative state.

I use the practice of yoga to bring my racing mind to a calming stillness, whilst stretching and strengthening my body. This combination, for me, has aided me in hard, chaotic times in my life and improved my mental state, anger issues, impatience, depression and anxiety problems.

Yoga is a perfect tool for anyone who feels they are stagnating in unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Use yoga, breathing and meditation as a gateway to a journey of self-discovery.

Starting this yoga journey means you will encounter abilities you never knew you had, a sense of balance in your life and a growing seed of inner peace that will diminish negative thoughts and distorted perceptions of yourself, your life and the world around us.

True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied.

What Does it mean to

Live Your JOurney?

No matter what you do, no matter who you surround yourself with, at the end of the day – everyone is on their own, unique journey. We want to chase our dreams and find our passion in life.

This means working hard to get to know yourself, what makes you happy, what brings you up, and what can also bring you down.

Through the practice of constantly pushing yourself with the goal to know yourself better, you’ll bet met with a clear vision about your own mission in life: what makes you happy and what brings you peace.

Your final destination is out there, waiting for you. It is up to you to discover it. Yet right now, everything is about the journey. And the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.

What Does it mean to

Express Yourself?

It’s easy to forget who you are in the world as we know it today. Everyone and everything influences you to be someone else, whether it’s your family, friends, work, social media, films etc. It’s hard to be yourself and express who you really are.

We believe in using yoga and meditation as a means of quieting the noise of society and solemnly focusing on yourself, your needs, emotions and thoughts. We take on our journyes to figure out who and what we are. Anyone can do yoga and meditative exercises, but to express yourself honestly, that’s very hard to do.

It takes hard work, dedication and sacrifice to get to that level. It’s a journey all in itself, answering the question “How can I be me?” Yoga is an inner journey. The physicality of it is just a tool, a mechanism to get you there.

What Does it mean to

Find Your Now?

The past already happened, the future isn’t here yet – all we actually ever have is now. A lot of people spend their lives wondering, regretting and missing the past or thinking of and planning the future, whilst they’re missing out on all the wonderful experiences happening in the present.

We love living in the moment and being fully conscious and appreciative of what we get to experience right now. Through yoga and meditation, we focus on every single moment – the frustration, the excitement, the struggle, the benefits and all the little steps that bring us closer to our goals.

Finding your now means finding happiness in today. Allowing yourself to be truly content with life and all that it brings to the table. Being stuck in the past or obsessed with the future only brings you unrealistic and irrelevant thoughts – be here, be present, be in love with your now.
